About New Book release

A few years ago, Lou and Rebecca Shirey spoke aloud a prayer of surrender, “Lord, increase our faith and do whatever it takes!” They relinquished control, placing their trust in God to work out his plan for them. So, God invited them on what turned out to be a five-year adventure in faith that forever changed their lives.

Their household goods remained in storage after retirement from a 26-year career as an army chaplain, and a year of residency at Asbury Theological Seminary. At God’s direction, they packed up a few personal belongings, loaded them into their white, Buick LeSabre, and set out in faith—following God’s lead. Following the Cloud.  

Their faith adventure took them across the United States—from coast to coast, to large towns and some too small to rate a mention on the map. Their assignment? To encourage. To listen. To extend grace. To pray. To stretch out a helping hand to someone, friend, or stranger. Mostly, God wanted to teach them about him.

You are also on a faith adventure. God might not ask you to take a physical journey, but he invites you on a spiritual one. Along the way, you learn to trust him more deeply, to hear his voice more clearly, and to understand how a season of waiting leads to the best possible outcome. We are all on a journey to the heart of God. It’s where we come to know Jesus better, and where we discover the ultimate truth. He is our destination.
